RISEN HOPE

In 2017, God planted a humble, little seed of a church in the ground of Kingsgate, a small community of neighborhoods on Seattle’s Eastside. This seed was called Risen Hope, based on 1 Peter’s unblushing promise: that for those who trust in Christ Jesus, there is an indomitable hope which is real, alive, and capable of radically changing how we live our lives. With hearts convinced that God’s glory is the only true source of lasting joy in the world, we committed ourselves to making much of this God, both in worship and through sacrificial acts of love.

For more than four years, our church has learned together what it is like to know God and to show God to those he’s placed us near. And in our effort to love this community, we have been blessed to partner with Pastor Al Veillette of Antioch Bible Church, Jeff DeGallier while at John Muir Elementary, and our brothers and sisters at Queensgate Baptist Church. By his grace, we also started God Loves Kingsgate, a parachurch organization designed to proclaim the love of Christ to the people of Kingsgate in both word and deed. We’re incredibly thankful for all who have poured into our church’s life, especially our friends at Reach Church and Linden Grove Ministries.

In 2021, due to a variety of circumstances, it became clear that Risen Hope would not continue into 2022. With hearts full of both sorrow and gratitude, we began the process of drawing this little church’s story to a close. Many individuals and families, still passionate about the work to be done in Kingsgate, have committed to continue these efforts as God sees fit. Despite the present scattering of our church, we are eternally grateful for God’s work in our lives during these years, and the enduring unity and love he’s continued to give this family of believers. We have kept this site up as a reminder of his unwavering faithfulness. May it be a blessing to you.
